Ilet à Cordes, a new Solar Village in France

A solar village is a well-defined neighborhood or village that usually has difficulties in electricity supply and on which the intermunicipal and / or the municipality wishes to conduct an installation operation of individual solar water heaters. The objective at the aim of the project is that 100% of homes are equipped with solar water heating.

The final objective of the Communauté intercommunale des Villes solidaires (CIVIS) is to tend towards the autonomy of the districts or villages in situation of fuel poverty. This approach aims to:

  • To promote access to renewable energies, particularly solar thermal energy
  • To structure a development strategy adapted to the constraints of the villages
  • To support the local solar thermal sector
  • To reduce the situations of fuel poverty in households
  • To erase electrical charges on the network

The Énergies Réunion SPL assisted CIVIS in:

  • Implementing project governance
  • The technical support of the project team
  • The consultation for the project
  • Conformity checks of installed water heaters
